NEWTON, MA [April 28, 2026] – Sonesta International Hotels Corporation (Sonesta) today announced the execution of a franchise agreement for a new construction hotel in La Romana, Dominican Republic. In addition to the two other properties currently under construction, The James Larimar City and Sonesta ES Suites Jarabacoa, Sonesta is pleased to continue expanding its footprint with another brand, and bring a new MOD Collection by Sonesta™ to the Dominican Republic.
This newly executed agreement will welcome a 168-room MOD Collection by Sonesta to the portfolio in La Romana, Dominican Republic, upon completion of the new construction. La Romana, located on the southeastern coast of the Dominican Republic, is a top tourist destination and serves as a major port city. The area is home to luxury resorts, world-class golf courses, the village of Altos de Chavón, and pristine Caribbean beaches. The hotel will be delivered in two phases, building one will open in fall of 2027 and building two in the fall of 2028.
